Helping Hudson A Wheely Good Cause

Hi Everyone,

This is an awesome display of just how the Stampin' Up Community pitches in to help out!! It's part the reason why I love being a demonstrator!!

It’s true when they say that a little goes a long way, and I’m here to tell you about how a simple purchase of some fun -filled paper craft tutorials can give freedom to a little boy!

Hudson is 2 ½ but unlike most children his age, he has had a tough little life! Doctors realised he had an incomplete brain before he was born and as a newborn he was discovered to be legally blind. Hudson has recently been diagnosed with both Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy! His mobility has been hindered severely by his disabilities, however his family and friends wish nothing more than to give him the chance to get moving on his own. Hudson needs a special Wheelchair/Walker, called a Kid Walker. This device will help get him mobile, allow him to play with his brother and sister, interact with other children his own age and give him independence in his day to day life!

This is where the stamping world really comes into play! When a group of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators are asked for help they come to the rescue, ink and paper in hand, to work miracles. This is what has happened around Hudson over the last few months. First with his mum’s direct team, and then spreading out across Australia and New Zealand and over in to the US, the UK and Canada! His story has touched so many people so its time to share it with you all!

There is a HUGE online stamping event taking place, called Helping Hudson -A Wheely Great Cause! The organisers have been working really hard, securing support, tutorials and donations to get this event underway. There are going to be three weeks of stamping fun for you to join in – come back as often as you can, there will always be lots more to see, do and learn. It kicks off on the 1st August and will run right through until the 22nd. You’ll find it at http://helpinghudson.blogspot.com/

When you come on over to the blog you’ll find out all about Hudson, his family and his cause! But, more importantly, you can DO SOMETHING TO HELP HUDSON, at the same time as helping yourself learn how to make some great new paper craft projects. How? By purchasing bundles of tutorials kindly donated by Stampin’ Up! demonstrators the world over. Each bundle has 10 fun-filled tutorials for just AU$10! And there are six themes to choose from: Bags & Boxes, Christmas, Kids’ Birthdays, Projects for Men & Boys, Punch Art & Scrapbooking. There’s even a FREE bonus bundle if you buy four or more. WOW how exciting! All proceeds go directly to help Hudson.

The Helping Hudson Crew will also be posting some awesome challenges throughout the three weeks. For a small donation you can join in and be in the running for some FANTASTIC Stampin’Up! Prize packs, kindly donated by Stampin’ Up! Australia (Aussie participants only) Also keep your eyes peeled for challenges over at Just Add Ink and Stamp A Memory too)

And we would love you to help spread the word too. Check out the ‘Spreading The Word’ page at the site for all you need to know to get the word out to as many people as you can.

C’MON LETS GET HUDSON MOVING!!!!!

Casing the Autumn Mini

Hi Everyone,

I made this card for my friend Andrea, one of my sideline Stampin' Up demos... She's a constant source of inspiration and knowledge and I was lucky enough to spend a couple of hours catching up just over a week ago whilst my girls were being babysat and I had some 'me' time.

So I whipped up this card by casing the layout and design directly from our Autumn mini catty. However, I did change the sentiment, and the colours are totally different too.

Materials Used:
Stamp: Medallion, Sweet little sentiments
Card / Ink Colours: Pink Pirouette, Certainly Celery, Whisper White
Choc Chip grosgrain ribbon
Rhinestone Brad

ESAD Wk 23 3D Challenge

Hi All,

Last week the challenge was set for the ESAD members to follow Tania Gould's tutorial to make some gorgeous rolled roses...

Here was my clean and simple entry... However I did tick off 2 extra things from my 'to try' list in this project so it made me a happy stamper!

The other new things were the Top Note Box, using the Big Shot Die and also some heat embossing. Admittedly it's only 1 word and a little on the rose, but still, I had a go and that's what it's all about! I encourage everyone to have a go at the rolled roses - they are pretty simple! And I've just jazzed mine up with the leaves from the 2 step bird punch adhered with my new love - Tombow glue! MY GOSH this stuff is amazing! If you make anything 3D you need to get some of this glue! (and it smells pretty nice too).

Stamp and Stack July Projects

Hi Everyone,

Here's a super quick post to show you the 2 cards we made on Friday night at my July Stamp and Stack.

We made 5 of each of these cards and as it was only a small class, we actually finished on time! That's a bit of a record for my classes, we often tend to chatter and laugh a little too much.

Thank you to those who attended - you know who you are!
 Christmas Lights

If you were unable to attend, I'd be happy to show you and a couple of friends how we did these or any other cards. Just leave me a comment or send an email.

Ok, onto my project, I've made a stationery set complete with a box, card, notecards, and even stamp and a pen! Now I've started by using the "I wish" Simply Scrappin' Kit and (this is what happens when you tidy and sort things out), I cannot find the "I wish" embellishments (I know there's some somewhere but I've searched for 2 days and had no luck in finding them! grrr not happy!!) Thankfully my project turned out ok with the use of the Christmas Classics Stamp Set - phewwww!

Oh no! but at the same time Yay!

Hi All,

I'm in the process of updating my blog background... Please be patient with me as I'm hoping to keep the same one, I just need the site (the cutest blog on the block) to be working as it has crashed due to all the traffic they are experiencing.... Don't worry I'm not going to stop blogging :)

So, I'll either have the same blog background back in place soon or a fresh new one for you all REALLY SOON!

Scrunchie Scalloped Flowers

Hi All,

I think I've shown you a card or 2 with the Scrunchie Scallop Flowers but I made this one the other day and just had to share as I was very proud of it.

My photo is a little wonky but I'd already started to edit it and I'm being lazy and not taking another lol!! Goofy

Now, has anyone realised that my 'rich razzleberry' polka dot card isn't actually rich razzelberry card at all? Its a piece of very vanilla! How did I get the polka dots vanilla and the rest of the piece razzelberry? Well, I inked my polka dot embossing folder with my rich razzleberry inkpad (just by rubbing them together), layed on my very vanilla cardstock and ran it all through the Big Shot. Cool hey! Give it a go, its easy and very effective in real life! My photo today really doesn't do the card any justice! I'm going to do more of this polka dots in different colours so stay tuned this week for more.

Materials Used:
Cardstock / Ink: Confetti Cream, Very Vanilla, Rich Razzleberry, Kiwi Kiss
Big Shot & Polka Dot Embossing Folder
Very Vanilla Ribbon
Scallop Circle Punch
2 Step Bird Punch (for the leaves)
Rhinestone Brad
Stamp Set: Heard from the Heart

Christmas Cards...

Hi All,

With my Christmas In July rescheduled for this Friday night, I've been playing with my Christmas stamps sets again... And yes, I've changed my mind on one of the cards we will be making - that's what happens when I have extra time to plan the class lol

Well, this was one of the "maybe" class cards but I just wasn't happy enough with it...

Nope, still not happy enough even when I changed the colours....

Materials Used:
Stamp Set: Season of Joy
Colours: Close to Cocoa, So Saffron, Regal Rose and Very Vanilla
Stampin' Up Antique Brads

Don't worry though, I have different cards ready for the class and I'm heaps happier with them!! If you live in the Perth Metro area and are interested in coming - please email me by Thursday 8pm.

Baby Shower Gift Set

Hi Everyone,

Last night I went to a friend's baby shower... The new arrival will be here soon and I was a little stumped as to what to buy or make for her as we don't know whether to expect a boy or a girl. So I thought back to when I had my 2 girls (2006 & 2008) and decided some little cards would be handy as birth announcements or thank you cards.

So I made a set of 10 cards, co-ordinating envelopes and a box for it all to go in. This is the card:

It was based on a card from my sideline Andrea, however I changed it around a bit to suit the stamps I have. The box looked the same as the card but just a little bigger.

Materials Used:
Stamp Set: Forest Friends (retired) & Sweet Little Sentiments (Hostess Level 1 set)
Cardstock/ Ink Colours:  Whisper White, Certainly Celery, Pretty in Pink, Brocade Blue (soon to retire!)
White Taffeta Ribbon
Scallop Oval, Large Oval, Word Window, Scallop Square & 1 1/4" punches
Big Shot & Polka Dot Embossing Folder
Brocade Blue (soon to retire) Stampin' Write Marker - used to ink up the sentiment stamp as there's actually more words in this stamp.

Rounded Tab Punch

One day, I'll show you the first card we made (which was a little more time consuming) but I haven't photographed it yet.

JAI Challenge #25 - 2nd entry

Me again.... Wow this is 3 posts now today! Amazing the little extras you can get done when the kids are distracted by dad being home from work on holidays.

Ok, this card I started using the sketch challenge from Makeesha Byl and the colour challenge from Just Add Ink as well (see my previous post for the colour challenge details or pop over and see it at the JAI site)

Now I don't know if it really qualifies, I've ended up with an extra stripe but still wanted to show it to you.

So this is the card:

I've run the card pieces through the crimper (some horizontally and some vertically), then distressed each piece and popped in a few brads. The robot (from Lots of Bots from the autumn mini catty) has been coloured with my aqua painter and soft suede, rose red and elegant eggplant ink pads.

Back with a challenge entry

Hi Everyone,

Well, I have been waiting all morning for a dry and non-windy spell to take some photos of my cards outside but alas no such luck.... So this photo has been taken near my big sliding door which lets in loads of natural light...

This week's Just Add Ink challenge #25 is to use this colour combo....

I wasn't sure about this, I really don't use soft suede very much at all.....

So, this was one of 2 cards I made on the weekend...

Now, you've seen the card, I'll let you in on a secret - I chopped it down to a smaller size as I just couldn't pick a sentiment to go with it, everything seemed to overpower the detail of the tree.... So the final size of the card is roughly 10x11cm.
The tree is from the Forest Friends set from a past mini catty and I've coloured it with my ink pads and aqua painter.

And I'll be back soon with my second entry.

A Star is Born

Hi Everyone,

For anyone in Perth this weekend, I hope you all managed to stay safe and dry! What a wet weekend we had! My plan was to spend a lot of time (and I mean a lot) cleaning up my stamping room and joining in some challenges. Well, that didn't really happen.... But in the short time I did spend in my stamping room, I managed to make a few cards that I'll show you over the next couple of days.

Here's one I made with one of my favourite colour combos (I'm such a girly girl sometimes! lol)

Materials Used:
Stamp Set: Pony Party & Picture This (level 1 hostess from autumn mini catty)
Big Shot & Polka Dot embossing folder
Melon Mambo Ribbon
Cardstock: Lovely Lilac, Orchid Opulence, Pink Passion, Whisper White
Stampin' Write Markers
Aqua Painter
Black Stazon Ink
White Gel Pen
Large Oval and Scallop Oval Punch

Butterfly Pansy

Hi All,

In some recent blog surfing, I have seen a few flowers (pansies generally) made out of the butterfly punch. Sooo one thing lead to another and finally I've had a go...

I've teamed the butterfly punch with the leaf from the 2 step bird punch and there you have it, a pansy with a stem and leaf. I just trimmed the leaf off the stem and turned it into a stalk for my flower and added the leaf in a different position. The glue pen works perfectly for adhering my stem and lead to the card - no visible glue on my page so that's excellent!

I'm still feeling yuck from this cold so that's it from me today. If you would like any more info about the products/ techniques used, please contact me.
